UFC- FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

#1- What is UFC?

Ultimate Fitness Challenge is the natural evolution of our pioneering Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge. Members whom have completed the Ultimate Weight Loss Challenge found that they had grown accustomed to the workouts and requested a new program to go past programming geared towards weight loss exclusively.
UFC is designed to develop strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and speed rather than focusing solely on weight loss. UFC will forge you into a well-balanced athlete, proficient in a multitude of training methods.

#2- “I’m kind of a big deal. Will UFC challenge me?”

A UFC workout is designed to push you to the limits. If everyone is doing burpees for 5 minutes, she who is in phenomenal shape may complete 80 repetitions whereas he who is lacking may only complete 45 reps. Both athletes will be feeling the intensity of the workout. Furthermore, UFC develops strength, endurance, flexibility, balance, and speed…Few recreational athletes have the entire package.

#3- “I’m afraid UFC is too difficult for me. How can I be sure?”

Insanity can be described as doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Are you moving along in your fitness journey? Are you setting realistic goals and accomplishing them in a reasonable time period? If the answers to these questions is no, the solution is often change your workout regimen. In short, its time to start getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.

#4- How do I win UFC and what do I win?

Points are accrued through completing “acts of fitness”, maintaining an accurate and up-to-date food log, attending educational workshops, participating in group fitness classes, and completing the pre-test and final workout. The top three winners always receive free personal training sessions. Additional prizes vary but have included gift certificates, customized running shoes, free class vouchers, and EVERYONE receives a T-shirt.

#5- “What kind of workouts are we talking about here?”

Old school calisthenics, strong-man style obstacles and challenges, cone and speed ladder drill work, weighted sleds and vests, Bulgarian bags, Olympic weightlifting, high intensity interval training, and many other styles of training are integrated into the program to challenge your body and stimulate your mind. If you’re bored during UFC then you aren’t trying hard enough.

#6- “What workouts should I do in between group workouts?”

Completing the “acts of fitness” is a good start; however, we will be implementing a website full of instructional videos and informative posts for the UFC participants this session. “Athlete Development Workouts” will be posted on this blog for UFC participants to complete between group exercise sessions.

#7- "I'm a woman and I want a slim body...Won't lifting weights make me bulky?"

Maybe, but it is highly unlikely. Its all about genetics. Women typically don't possess enough of the hormones needed to bulk up like a man (many men don't possess enough of them either). You'd have to take supplemental drugs to achieve that kind of bulking , which we strongly discourage. UFC workouts will build lean muscle mass and burn fat. Lean muscle mass will help you burn fat and increase your base metabolic rate (metabolism), thereby lowering your total body fat percentage...which will make you smaller and give you that look you've been trying to achieve.
